The Terror of Toilet Training

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

Oh god. It’s that time. It’s probably been that time for a while but I have been totally avoiding it. Yes sir, it’s time to start Toilet Training. Bloody Hell, give me strength. (more…)

How to Overcome the Boredom of Parenthood

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Life, Mumma / / 0 comments

Right guys. I WANT to say that it is time for a TRUTH BOMB, but if you are a parent you will already know what I am about to say. You will realise it from about the tenth month of your child’s life. And if you aren’t a parent, then you most likely wont believe me… well, not until your elbow deep in nappies and vomit anyway. BUT…here it is… (more…)

My Experience With Hypnobirthing

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

Hypnobirthing… I had never heard of it before falling pregnant. In fact, I hadn’t even really given my future labour a proper thought, other than knowing that I was really excited at the thought that I would one day be going through it. What a weirdo huh? I had been lucky enough to witness a good friends labour a couple of years before, and was so amazed and in love with what I had seen. Not in a creepy way but in a life is a freaking miracle sort of way. (more…)

My Real Birth Story – Cesarina Hughes

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma, My Real Birth Story Series / / 0 comments

Hooray! Its my birthday! And to celebrate in style, I would like to present to you the extra special story of MY birth. Yep, me. Being born. Into this world. So, without further ado, here is the sixth instalment in our Real Birth Story Series! It was written by MY OWN lovely mother Cesarina and tells the story about my crazy (and very early) entry into this world. Things were pretty different 35 years ago. But I think I turned out relatively ok. Could have done with a smaller nose though. Sigh.  So sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed living it, lol. xxxx (more…)

I don’t want to raise a zombie – little blocks for my little boy

Ellyn Shepherd / Baby, Bloggity Blog / / 0 comments

Blog note: This product was gifted to mummalifelovebaby So, it has been playing on my mind for sometime now about how we are way too dependant on our gadgets. My husband and I are both so guilty of it, and we are so wrapped up in them that it feels like we barely have time for each other any more. Right now I am tapping on my Mac with one hand whilst searching on my phone for who know’s what with the other hand? And my husband is sitting next to me with his iPad on his lap, his phone next to him and the tv on. And although we are enjoying each others company, we aren’t really talking to each other. And that’s pretty sad when you think about it. (more…)

Five MORE Books for Babies That I Love

Ellyn Shepherd / Baby, Bloggity Blog / / 0 comments

Do you remember my previous post about five books for babies that I absolutely love? If you didn’t see it, then make sure you check it out here. Well, after reading those same books again, and again, and again, and again, and AGAIN I realised that I needed a new list. A list full of new books where the words were not already entirely and completely committed imprinted on my brain. Something new and fresh for my eyeballs. Something glorious. (more…)

Second Place Mum – The Story of My Life

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

I don’t know if you feel the same in your household, however I always feel like I am coming in second place in the parenting stakes. Yep guys, I am now the Second Place Mum. I don’t know what it is. I never used to feel this way, but as time has gone on I feel more like I am becoming the “I-guess-she-will-do-if-she-is-the-only-one-here” kind of parent. Sigh. And it hugely sucks balls when you are the parent that is clung to only when daddy is nowhere to be seen. (more…)

My Real Birth Story – Rita Hawkes

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma, My Real Birth Story Series / / 0 comments

Here is the second beautiful installment in our monthly Real Life Birth Story series, written by the lovely Rita, mother of a very handsome one year old boy.  I hope you love reading her story as much as I do xxxx   I was booked in for a Caesarian close to my due date, and being a first baby I (naively) believed that most first-borns always arrived late. So when I felt a small pain in my belly a week before my booked in date, I thought that perhaps it was merely a little indigestion. (more…)

Going Back To Work, And The Pressure Of Time.

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Life, Mumma / / 0 comments

I don’t know about you, but my life is flying by in an absolute blur. I remember when I was young, the future seemed hugely infinite – like it would never end. And because I still had aaaaallllll of that glorious time ahead of me, it seemed like anything was possible. And then…well, life happens. We get older, and all of a sudden we get so damn busy just doing…stuff…sometimes, totally meaningless stuff, that we lose track of the life we should be truly living. (more…)
