Second Place Mum – The Story of My Life

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

I don’t know if you feel the same in your household, however I always feel like I am coming in second place in the parenting stakes. Yep guys, I am now the Second Place Mum. I don’t know what it is. I never used to feel this way, but as time has gone on I feel more like I am becoming the “I-guess-she-will-do-if-she-is-the-only-one-here” kind of parent. Sigh. And it hugely sucks balls when you are the parent that is clung to only when daddy is nowhere to be seen. (more…)

The Christening: Specticles, Testicles, Wallet and Watch.

Ellyn Shepherd / Baby, Bloggity Blog / / 2 comments

So, it was my little sons Christening last month. And we were super excited about it. We weren’t excited so much about the actual Christening part (and I hope no higher powers decide to lightening bolt my house tonight after saying that), as neither of us are really practising church goers…I guess you could say that we wanted to Christen our son more “just because we should” rather than “Jesus will send locusts into my shower and up my bum crack if I don’t”… (more…)

My Real Birth Story – Rita Hawkes

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma, My Real Birth Story Series / / 0 comments

Here is the second beautiful installment in our monthly Real Life Birth Story series, written by the lovely Rita, mother of a very handsome one year old boy.  I hope you love reading her story as much as I do xxxx   I was booked in for a Caesarian close to my due date, and being a first baby I (naively) believed that most first-borns always arrived late. So when I felt a small pain in my belly a week before my booked in date, I thought that perhaps it was merely a little indigestion. (more…)

In the Midnight Hour

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

It’s funny what you think about in the middle of the night when your little one is crying in your arms. It’s funny what you cling on to, to get you through that tough hour. Recently my baby was sick with both a nasty virus and teething. Four evil jerky teeth were taunting him and trying to pushing their little jerky selves through his baby gums. Pffft. Jerks. And if that wasn’t enough, he had a constant temperature making him feel super crappy and unwell. Such a great combo. Not. (more…)

The Great Labour Inducers

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 2 comments

Do you remember that point towards the end of your pregnancy? You know, when you were getting incredibly full of baby, and unable to take a full breath anymore? Do you remember the way that you wanted to meet that little one already with every single part of your being? Well I sure do. (more…)

What I Never Realised About Parenthood

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Life / / 2 comments

Parenthood is one of those funny things. Super hilarious in fact. You think you know all there is to know about what it will be like when you become one, based on everything you have seen or heard over the span of your own life so far. Even though you kind of expect it to be “hard”, you have stuffed yourself full of so much confidence by the time you finally fall pregnant, that you strut completely into the role of a new parent like a smug parenty jerk. Pffft. More fool you. (more…)

How I Survived Going Back to Work

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

The time had come. I couldn’t avoid it any longer. I was going back to work. Sigh. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? I yelled, shaking my fist at the sky. Whyyyyyyyyyy must I go back? I mean, I just couldn’t understand why I couldn’t be surrounded by unlimited bucket loads of cash, and become a lady of leisure. It’s a totally reasonable request. (more…)

Mummy Needs A Day Off

Ellyn Shepherd / Bloggity Blog, Mumma / / 0 comments

I don’t know about you, but there are some days when I just want a freaking break. There may not be anything particularly wrong. I might even have been lucky enough to have gotten a full nights sleep the previous night. But some days I just want to stay in bed, pull the covers over my head and to not have to get up for anything or anyone. I just feel a desperate need to be lazy. (more…)
